Tao Te Ching / Lao Tsu
Edited & translated by Nissim Amon
The "Book of Tao" is without doubt one of the most mysterious books written in the Far East.
It is considered to be the foundation for the Taoist philosophy. It is also thought to be the basis for the many different forms of marshal arts and Chinese medicine.
Very little is known about the author of the book, the old and wise Lao-Tsu. It is believed that 2500 years ago he was the keeper of the Emperor of China’s library. Legend says that Lao-Tsu retired from his job when Confucius was chosen by the Emperor to be the minister of law and education.
Soon after his retirement, Lao-Tsu left the kingdom for a journey in the Himalayas, from which he never returned. At the border gate he left this small book, which illustrates in simple words his view on the great secrets of life.
